I am waiting for you to walk out of- whatever it is you just walked into. A party of some kind. A sticky warmth emanates from the brick building. Raucous laughter and the clinking of cups can be heard from inside.

I'm leaning against the windowsill, face turned toward the inner part of town, just far enough that I can watch you without openly staring and gaining attention.

Cold rain drips from a hole in the gutter above me, landing on my already soaked shoulder. I've been waiting here for hours already. Luckily I thought to bring my cloak, or I would've had to abandon this perfect perch for a seat inside.

I watch as you down your fourth shot. The people inside cheer and the energy washes across the room like a wave, splashing across the floor, through the wall. I let it rush through me. For a moment I can feel the burn of whiskey in my throat, and a lightheadedness that wasn't there before.

You're already drunk, apparently, and as you motion the barkeep for another I see you're not stopping anytime soon. I lean back against the window and resolve myself for a longer wait than I was expecting.
